What is the advantage of Filament lamp (halogen & spotlight) over Gas Discharge lamps?

Advantage? Well, they are cheaper, they turn on instantly (even after turing off). Gas discharge lamps have to cool off first before you can relight one after turning off. The filament lamps are a little more rugged than a gas discharge lamp. The disadvantage is that they use more electriciy.
