Short and Long Term Disability?

I have been on STD for six months A chronic and incurable condition. The Short term company never seemed to have an issue and paid me regularly. My Dr. is supportive. I recently transitioned to Long term disability (a different company) and they are acting like I may not qualify????? Are there rules and regulations regarding these insurances? Do I have any rights?
